The desktop that stays on through the Botswana afternoon

MetaTrader 4 and 5 install on Windows as ordinary desktop applications, and the desktop build is where multi-chart layouts belong. Several instruments visible at once, saved templates and custom timeframes survive a restart, which a browser tab on a borrowed machine cannot promise. Power settings are worth a look so the computer does not go to sleep in the middle of an active session.

The install itself asks little of the machine. It runs on ordinary Windows hardware, and none of the account lives inside it: after a reinstall, a system reset or a move to a different computer, signing in brings back the same balance, the same open positions and the same history. Only the local half has to be rebuilt, so a layout worth keeping is worth arranging deliberately rather than by accident.

The local clock argues for a machine that stays on. Botswana is UTC+2 through the year, so the European and American sessions overlap from the late afternoon into the early evening, and a desktop already running since mid-morning covers that window without a phone battery being involved.
